1. About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Apoteca.al uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use our website, online store, customer account, AI assistant, mobile applications and related digital services.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data more generally.

In this policy, “Apoteca”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Apoteca.al. “You” and “your” refer to visitors, customers, account holders and users of our digital services.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help a website work properly, remember your choices, keep you signed in, protect against abuse, and understand how the website is used.

We may also use similar technologies, such as:

  • local storage;
  • session storage;
  • pixels or tags;
  • SDKs in our mobile app;
  • device or browser identifiers;
  • analytics events;
  • security and anti-abuse signals.

For simplicity, this policy refers to all of these as “cookies and similar technologies”.

3. Types of cookies we use

We use cookies and similar technologies only where they are needed to operate Apoteca, provide the service, improve the Platform, protect against abuse, or where you have given consent.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the Platform to work and cannot be switched off through our cookie banner.

They may be used to:

  • keep you signed in;
  • remember your language and currency;
  • keep products in your cart;
  • process checkout;
  • remember your cookie choices;
  • support account security;
  • prevent fraud, spam, bots and abuse;
  • protect forms and checkout flows;
  • balance traffic and keep the Platform stable.

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent because the Platform cannot function properly without them.

Examples may include cookies or storage used by Apoteca, our authentication system, our cart and checkout system, and security tools such as Cloudflare Turnstile.

3.2 Functional cookies

Functional cookies help us remember choices and provide a smoother experience.

They may be used to remember:

  • selected language;
  • selected currency;
  • saved preferences;
  • recently viewed products;
  • interface choices;
  • app or website settings.

Some functional storage may be necessary for the service. Where functional cookies are not strictly necessary, we will use them only where permitted by law or with consent where required.

3.3 Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how people use Apoteca, which pages and features are useful, where errors occur, and how we can improve the Platform.

Analytics may help us understand:

  • pages visited;
  • products viewed;
  • searches and filters used;
  • cart and checkout performance;
  • feature usage;
  • clicks and interactions;
  • technical performance;
  • errors or failed flows.

We use analytics only where required consent has been given. If you refuse analytics cookies, you can still use the Platform.

We currently use product analytics tools such as PostHog only after consent where consent is required.

We do not intentionally use analytics cookies to collect payment card details, sensitive medical information, health records, diagnoses, medication lists or private messages.

3.4 Security, fraud-prevention and anti-abuse technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to protect Apoteca, customers and our service providers from fraud, bots, spam, scraping, account misuse, payment abuse, fake orders, unauthorized access and other harmful activity.

These technologies may process technical information such as IP address, device information, browser information, session identifiers, request patterns, form-submission signals and security events.

Where these technologies are necessary to keep the Platform secure, they are treated as strictly necessary.

3.5 Marketing cookies

We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

If we introduce marketing cookies, advertising pixels, retargeting tools or cross-site tracking in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and request consent where required before using them.

Marketing communications such as email, SMS, WhatsApp or push notifications are explained in our Privacy Policy and depend on your marketing choices and consent where required.

4. Cookies and mobile apps

In our mobile applications, similar technologies may be used to:

  • keep you signed in;
  • remember app settings;
  • support cart and checkout;
  • send push notifications where enabled;
  • measure app performance;
  • detect crashes and errors;
  • protect the app from abuse;
  • support security and fraud prevention.

Some app technologies are necessary for the app to work. Analytics, marketing or push-notification features are used according to your choices and device permissions where required.

You can manage push notifications through your device settings and, where available, through your Apoteca account settings.

5. Your cookie choices

When you first visit Apoteca, our cookie banner allows you to accept or refuse non-essential cookies, such as analytics cookies.

You can change your choice at any time through the “Manage cookies” link or cookie settings available on the Platform.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. However, if you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the Platform may not work properly. For example, you may not be able to stay signed in, keep items in your cart, complete checkout, remember language or currency, or use security-protected forms.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before consent was withdrawn.

8. How long cookies last

Cookies and similar technologies may be:

  • session-based, meaning they are deleted when you close your browser or end the session; or
  • persistent, meaning they remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

The duration depends on the purpose of the cookie. For example, sign-in, cart, cookie-choice and security cookies may last long enough to provide the service reliably, while analytics cookies may last for the period configured in the analytics tool or consent settings.

We aim to keep cookie durations proportionate to their purpose.

9. Third-party technologies

Some cookies or similar technologies may be set by third-party providers that help us operate, secure, measure or improve Apoteca.

These providers may process information according to our instructions where they act as service providers, or according to their own terms and privacy policies where they act as independent controllers.

For more information about categories of providers and data sharing, see our Privacy Policy.

10. No sale of personal data

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

11. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, cookies, providers, law or how Apoteca operates.

The latest version will be published on the Platform with the “Last updated” date.

Where required by law, we may ask for your consent again or provide additional notice.
